Taking a step into a path less discussed these days, I thought that our community could take a moment to stop and think about what the colour green means to them. “Greenwashing” is prevalent in corporate messaging and big business needs to do their part in distinguishing themselves as environmentally-friendly. Supporting the proper non-profits is one step that corporations can take to properly address their commitment to green business and sustainability. Taking this information to the blockchain is a long-term goal of Charitas.

Grass, leaves, trees, rivers and mountains. What sustains the cycles of the planet, what allows us to live, and what imprint we can make to reverse the catastrophic effects of deforestation and pollution through our collective philanthropic interests. That’s Charitas. An advocate for positive change. Using the blockchain to propagate good.

Check out the newest verified non-profits that we plan on supporting.

Elephants and Bees

Ein : 75- 281570675–2815706

A project of the Save the Elephants foundation within the International Elephants foundation, their mission involves the research and development of beehive fences to promote the protection of rural African farms, and the reduction of human-elephant conflict. Research lead by Dr. Lucy King, PhD, has found that elephants did not approach trees inhabited by beehives.

The foundation is involved in projects across Africa in Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, South Africa, Botswana, and Mali. Some of their projects include; pollination studies, crop-raiding studies, and the implementation of bee fences amongst a number of crops across some of the aforementioned countries. American Elephants and Bees who make a 501c-3 tax-deductible donation will see 100% of any funds they donate go towards protecting both elephants and farmers from the imminent threat of human-elephant conflict.

Amazon Conservation Team

www.amazonteam.org

Dedicated to deploying funds to various vetted Latin American organizations whose purpose is to advocate against the deforestation of the Amazonian forest, the Amazon Conservation team (an American division of IPAM Amazonia) understands that Mother Nature is a delicate being. With the firm and sober belief that conservation is our moral and ethical duty. [Everyone is] a part of Nature, not apart from it. Nature is our home, not our servant. While there was a lot of coverage on Bolsonaro’s policies supporting the burning of the Earth’s lungs, not much has been done or covered since. Seasonal burns in the Brazilian portion of the Amazon occur for the purpose of planting unsustainable crops, and reports of their fires raging are often missed by the general public. Their website is a trove of resources and information on how to support and learn more about this relevant travesty.

With the intent to protect and conserve marine life worldwide, the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society has various projects to educate consumers of the threats posed onto underwater animals such as overfishing, the importance of reducing plastics and illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing (IUU). The ocean is under attack in more ways than one and their mission is to defend, conserve, and protect our oceans from as many perspectives as they can target. Other programs they conduct include protecting dolphins, reef defence, sea turtles, whales, hurricane relief in targeted areas, and plastic cleanup in the world’s oceans. If you wish to contribute your time, you can join any one of this organization’s 28 active chapters in the US and in Canada.
