NFTs for Social Impact w/ Sooraj Babu for Afghanistan

When artist Sooraj Babu gets creating, you can expect good vibrations felt around the world. The energy is palpable – his desire to forge a better world with art resonates through his glowing, whimsical style. Between art classes and art creation, the world is bettered by his brushstrokes and vision. Sooraj is eager to collaborate with Charitas to help spread the word about social impact on the blockchain.

That is why it is with great admiration that we present to you Sooraj’s latest release “Peace of Art” on OpenSea here.

Proceeds from Sooraj Babu’s NFT drop (@artholiq on IG and @artholiq1 on Twitter) are in support of Afghan women. During this transition of power in Afghanistan, women are at a greater risk of oppression and mistreatment. Women for Afghan Women is a Charitas-verified non-profit that aims to transform norms of violence and oppression into that of peace and equality.

Sooraj’s inspiration for this piece stems from this quote: “If you want to end the war then Instead of sending guns, send books. Instead of sending tanks, send pens. Instead of sending soldiers, send teachers.” ~ Malala Yousafzai

70% of the sale price from this piece will go towards the non-profit, with Charitas matching up to 250$.

Below are some non-profits to support Haiti, which is still rebuilding after a 7.2-magnitude earthquake.

Haiti Clinic Inc.

(754)235–6584

A U.S. based organization with extremely low org expenses, they’ve committed to contribute 100% of donations towards hurricane relief by funding their mobile clinics on disaster sites and sending essential goods to Haïti. Prior to the pandemic, they sent medical volunteer teams to Haiti every 4–6 weeks and received the bulk of their funding in the form of medication. Their low administrative expenses (approximately 4%) are used to employ two individuals in Florida, and 16 full time employees in Haiti.

Action Against Hunger, a globally renowned organization with the mission to reduce and mitigate the direct causes and effects of hunger, has a team mobilized in Haïti since 1985. At present, they are providing mental health support to frontline workers and those in the community, in addition to distributing food, hygiene supplies, and increasing their access to clean water, programs that have been set in place prior to this terrible earthquake.

In support of Haiti’s emergency, AAH is distributing lifesaving nutrition supplements for children under five years old, as a rise in malnutrition is a major concern.

They are also coordinating directly with local leaders to manage the emergency response and ensure access to clean water. AAH is distributing water purification modules – each module can provide around 4,000 people with clean water each day.

More information about the non-profit we will support with Sooraj Babu.
